State Requirements

To Qualify for an Instructional Driving Permit you must;

  • Be at least 15 years of age

  • Complete 30 hours of Driver Education from a State Approved Program

  • Enroll with a State Approved Driving School (for an E-Card)

  • Provide two forms of ID; Primary and Secondary

  • Complete an Application and pay the Instruction Permit Fee

  • Pass the Vision Test and the Knowledge Test with a score of no less than 80%

  • Valid for 2 years

To Qualify for an Under 21 Class D License you must;

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Have had a Provisional License for at least 12 months with no violations

  • Complete an Application and pay the Class D Licensing Fee

  • Expires on your 21st birthday

To Qualify for a Provisional Driving License you must;

  • Be at least 16 years of age

  • Have had an Instructional Driving Permit for at least 6 months, with no convictions for moving related violations or alcohol/controlled substance violations

  • Have completed 6 hours of Behind-The-Wheel driving with a State Approved Driving School

  • Record 50 total ours of practice driving (15 of which must be at night) under adult supervision

  • Complete an Application and pay the Provisional License Fee

  • Pass the Vision Test and Pass the Road Test

  • Valid for 2 years

To Qualify for a full Class D License (Standard Drivers License) you must;

  • Be at least 21 years of age

  • Have had an Under 21 Class D License or an Instruction Permit for a minimum of 3 months

  • Pass the Road Test and Pass the Vision Test, and/or renew your previous license

  • Compete an Application and pay the Class D Licensing Fee

  • Must be renewed every 4 year
