SMDS Enrollment Contract Terms & Conditions

To move forward with SMDS services you must review, sign, and accept the terms, conditions, and polices as stated in this contract. Contact SMDS with questions. Sign now and it’ll be in our system or sign later; anyone who drives with SMDS will need to sign this contract before moving forward with your first lesson in any case.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

South Metro Driving School provides 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction per Minnesota State Law.  Students moving forward with SMDS must;

  1. Provide a Classroom Completion Letter from the Driver Education School where they completed 30 hours of classroom

  2. Make their full payment to SMDS before receiving an E-Card (Blue Card), which is required to take the permit test

  3. Sign to confirm the SDMS contract of enrollment 

Once these tasks have been completed, your information will be entered into the State DMV System within 48 hours, and then you have the green light to take the permit test. All of the information on this contract is explained in greater detail on the SMDS website.  (Contact SMDS with questions)

RATES, PAYMENTS, CANCELLATIONS

  • Program Fee: $425 for standard 6-Hours of BTW (option to purchase other products)

  • Payment Due: When Enrolling with SMDS (before receiving an E-Card)

  • Refund Policy: Full refunds are only offered by contacting SMDS within 48-hours of payment (minus a $30 processing fee). Once your info has been entered in the DMV System, no refunds will be provided (which typically takes 48-hours)

  • Rescheduling/Cancellations: Must be made 24-hours in advance to avoid a $30 fee and withholding your E-Card

  • Missed Lessons: Late arrivals over 15 minutes or no-shows will result in a $30 fee and possible a wait time to reschedule

SCHEDULING AND COMPLETION

  • Students must contact SMDS after earning their Instruction Permit to schedule lessons

  • Lessons are typically completed within 90 days of requesting to schedule, but may take up to 4 months depending on demand

  • The E-Card (White & Blue) will be issued within 2-3 business days, typically Wednesdays and Sundays

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Present a valid Minnesota Instruction Permit at every lesson

  • Demonstrate safe and respectful behavior, follow all instructor directions

  • Notify SMDS within 24 hours of any schedule changes to avoid a $30 fee

  • Failure to comply with safety or behavioral expectations may result in dismissal without refund and withholding of your E-Card

  • No passengers will be allowed in the vehicle during Behind-The-Wheel Instruction (only the Student Driver and Driving Instructor)

RESPONSIBILITIES OF SMDS

  • Provide instruction consistent with Minnesota Statutes and Minnesota DPS Rules and Regulations

  • Maintain safe, insured training vehicles and qualified instructors

  • Communicate promptly about scheduling, weather cancellations, or program updates

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND AGREEMENT

This contract constitutes an agreement between South Metro Driving School and the student/parent and no verbal statements or promises will be recognized.  Signing and submitting this contract with payment shows commitment to program and full intention of moving forward with earning a permit and completing 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.  (You must also provide a Classroom Completion Letter to verify 30-hours of classroom education at the time of enrollment)
