Where you'll test

The Dakota County "DMV," explained

In Minnesota the "DMV" is really two things. Exam Stations give the knowledge (permit) test and the road test, in person. License Centers & deputy registrars handle license cards, ID cards, and tabs — they don't give tests. Here's where local families go.

Exam Stations

Take your tests here, in person. The road test is by appointment at drive.mn.gov.
Eagan – South Metro2070 Cliff Road, Eagan — knowledge + road test (your closest full station)
HastingsHastings — knowledge + road test (confirm the current address at drive.mn.gov)
St. Paul – Town Square445 Minnesota St, St. Paul — knowledge test
Minneapolis – Midtown Exchange2929 Chicago Ave S, Minneapolis — knowledge test
